Scope 3 emissions, indirect emissions that occur within our customers and suppliers value chains include emissions from freight transport, which can be a significant source of emissions.
Quarterback Transportation is taking a number of steps to reduce Scope 3 emissions from freight transport, including:
• Shifting to more efficient modes of transport:
We are working with our customers to help them minimize inefficiency and decarbonize their supply chain through innovation. Helping them use more efficient modes of transport, such as rail and water transport when possible.
• Using alternative fuels:
We are requesting our carriers to invest in vehicles that run on alternative fuels.
• Promoting improving vehicle efficiency:
We help to educate our carriers on how they can improve the efficiency of their vehicles by using aerodynamic improvements, fuel-efficient tires, and other technologies.
• Optimizing freight routes and schedules:
Prioritizing use of carriers who plan freight routes and schedules to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
• Consolidating loads:
Consolidating shipments whenever possible and permissible to reduce the number of trips required, In order to save fuel and reduce emissions
We are also working with our suppliers and customers to reduce their Scope 3 emissions from freight transport. For example, we provide our suppliers with resources on how to improve their freight efficiency and reduce their emissions. We also work with our customers to develop sustainable freight solutions.
